Endlings

A watercolor and ink painting depicting 'endlings' - creatures representing the last members of their species.

The composition includes Martha (the final passenger pigeon), Incas and Lady Jane (last Carolina parakeets), Benjamin (thylacine), Celia (Pyrenean ibex), a quagga, and a bubal hartebeest. A small pygmy rabbit named Bryn from the Columbia Basin was also included; after completion, researchers discovered an additional population of this species.
